Along with usual profit sources, digital mobile content become the key factor to attract subscriber and decrease churn. Value added services are streaming to be the hammer in competitors’ fight since telecom structure of mobile operators and technologies used for mobile terminals change very fast.
It’s becoming clear that ring-tones and pictures are already not that interesting for subscribers. The more experienced is the subscriber, the more particular his demands are. He looks forward new services and interesting media content.
MP3 music, mobile TV and video are getting more and more popular, however integration of media broadcasting functionality in mobile networks’ infrastructure remains unattainable due to a number of organizational and technological issues.
We have analyzed various ways of solving the problem, taking into consideration existing ways of broadcasting in TV, radio and Internet. The result of this work is Wireless Broadcast Platform (WIMcast™
) designed for data distribution in «one to millions” mode in GSM and 3G networks.
